Join in America Prays 250 — Coming July 4

The Assemblies of God World Prayer Center (WPC) and AG national leadership, in cooperation with district and network leaders, are urging AG churches and adherents to participate in America Prays 250 — a nationwide, grassroots prayer movement mobilizing AG districts, networks, churches, and leaders from coast to coast for a unified one hour of prayer on July 4, 2026. Beginning at 9 a.m. in each time zone and moving across the nation, thousands will gather to seek God for revival, spiritual awakening, and a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon America.

“Our goal is to see a tithe of Assemblies of God adherents participate in an America Prays 250 gathering,” states Rick DuBose, AG assistant general superintendent. “That would mean 300,000 people praying for God to transform our nation with a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit!”

According to Joe Oden, national director for AG World Prayer Center, over 40 districts and networks have already joined to participate in America Prays 250 by appointing a district or network prayer director. A prayer director is a leader who mobilizes and oversees prayer efforts within a network or district, serving as the main point of communication for their region. They work closely with leadership and appoint prayer captains at host churches throughout their network or district to lead the Hour of Prayer.

“Currently we have 720 host churches identified from across the nation,” Oden says. “Our goal is to have 1,000.”

Churches that would like to be considered to host an America Prays 250 event can click on the “Learn More” button on the America Prays 250 page or send an email to [email protected] for more information.

“Right now, we have promotional resources and videos available to download on the World Prayer Center America Prays 250 page,” Oden says. “We’ll also be providing every host church prayer captain with a digital toolkit that includes a prayer guide for the day, PowerPoint, an operational guide with logistics and execution information, and a training video for prayer captains that they can review as they prepare to lead the hour of prayer.”

Oden explains that the prayer guide is a walk through the Lord’s Prayer, presented in such a way that it will hold the attention of the seasoned intercessor as well as those who may be praying for the first time. Oden also wrote a book with Gospel Publishing House in preparation for this initiative titled, Empowered to Pray: Advancing the Kingdom of God Through Prayer and Intercession, which serves as the chief resource, giving directors and captains an in-depth understanding of the Lord’s Prayer and equipping them to lead personal and corporate prayer with confidence and clarity. This will be provided to every prayer director and captain leading up to July 4.

“We’ll be honoring God, holding Him in awe and wonder; seeking the restoration of our country and families; asking forgiveness and repenting of sin — step by step through the Lord’s Prayer,” Oden says. “Our prayer is that this nationwide event will be a catalyst to seeing the Holy Spirit birth the third Great Awakening in the United States!”

Individuals are asked to register online to participate in their local America Prays 250 event. Although registration is not required to attend, by registering for this sacred assembly it establishes a personal commitment to seek a fresh empowerment of the Holy Spirit and lend prayerful and active support in fulfilling the Great Commission.

“America is in desperate need of God — and your prayers make a difference,” Oden states. “Please join with family, friends, and fellow believers across the nation in prayer at an AG host church near you on July 4. Register today.”
